The new suspension system shaking up the skiing world

The system is offered in lengths of 162 and 175 centimeters. The Palisades Black and Tahoe Orange models sell for $1,995, while the premium Blue Line and Classicker models, developed in collaboration with Elps and Mtrs, cost $2,495. The premium models include heritage finishes and higher-grade detailing.

All versions are equipped with four independently adjustable air shocks. The package includes a hand pump and carrying strap, and the skier can adjust the air pressure to their height, weight, and riding style.

The data presented by the company indicate a significant reduction in loads. In tests conducted by the company using external accelerometers, the system reduced forces by up to 90 percent. The goal is to reduce strain on the legs, improve grip and control, and enable longer, more comfortable skiing.

For the tests, a motion sensor was attached to the ski and the suspension platform. Seven test sessions were conducted between December 2024 and January 2025, in powder, choppy snow, hard snow, groomed runs, and ice.

According to the measurement results, a skier on ShredShox required 1.8 times as long to accumulate the same vibration dose as a skier on conventional skis. Across all sessions, a median reduction of 26 percent was recorded in the vibrations reaching the boot. A 56 percent reduction was measured in medium-intensity impacts, 81 percent in stronger impacts, and up to 90 percent in exceptionally high loads.

The system was conceived by Ken Nichols and Nick Foster, both of whom were formerly professional race car drivers. Their familiarity with the role of suspension in grip and comfort led them to apply the principle to skiing. Less than a year after the company was founded, the first prototype was built, and by 2024 the company had reached the product's sixth generation.

The prototype was tested at industry events and events open to the public, including the U.S. Mogul Skiing Championships. After receiving positive feedback from skiers, the company continued testing the system in field conditions and backing up subjective impressions with data.

ShredShox's launch comes at a time when the ski equipment industry has not undergone dramatic changes in recent years. The company is now offering a new solution for dealing with vibrations, bumps, and leg fatigue, and is seeking to introduce a new category of ski equipment to the market.
