In 2 weeks: the opening of Glacier Park, marking the start of winter
The freestyle season in Europe is approaching, and with the start of October, the unofficial opening shot will be fired with the opening event at the Hintertux Glacier Park. After a long summer, snowboarders and freestyle skiers will return to the snow as early as October 2, at one of the continent’s most prominent resorts.
This event has been held for more than two decades and has become a tradition for the riding community. Beyond the first opportunity to return to snowy slopes, it is a large gathering of athletes, brands and fans who come together to mark the beginning of winter.
The park is located at an altitude of more than 3,200 meters above sea level and offers relatively stable conditions for the early season. The complex includes a variety of jumps, rails and creative features, attracting both professionals preparing for the competition season and beginners taking their first steps in the sport.
Hintertux Glacier will host the park’s opening event
In recent years, the event has expanded, and last year freestyle skiers were officially included alongside snowboarders. This year, too, a varied program is expected, featuring special competitions, activities for the younger generation and open qualifiers that will select participants for the finals held at the valley station.
Beyond the riding itself, the event is also known for its social atmosphere. Visitors can try out new equipment from leading brands, attend traditional film screenings and continue the celebrations into the evening.
The combination of high-altitude snow conditions, a world-class facility and a long-standing, loyal community has made Hintertux a central destination for the opening of the freestyle season in Europe.
